Why Wicked Left Hook?

Why this website? What’s the f*cking point?
It’s too late to do anything… right?

Wicked Left Hook is a venue to express your anger at the Trump Administration and explore what you can do about it.

As a commercial graphic artist and illustrator by trade, I wanted to start a blog to create some protest art. My form of art is building things and ideas, which is strange, and maybe that’s my startup side. I also don’t know how to paint or make proper graffiti, and art supplies are expensive. I make websites, I make logos—so, this is a way to take a stand.

The idea.
Since I have no illusions that I am highly knowledgeable and politically savvy, I listen to some decent podcasts and watch the news, like many people. I have my political leanings (surprise, they lean blue and a little to the left, like my… ahem). Anyways, for this project, I’ll leave the heavy, inside politics to people who know what they’re talking about, and this site will link to that information and content. So, hopefully, you’ll learn something new here.

Enough has been said about this topic, but my take is that all these attacks on our democracy are just fear-led tactics to cover up all the massive corruption, racism, and plain greed by this administration, which is just going to get worse. Look what has happened in three months. Imagine a year from now. I firmly believe that this country is doomed if nothing is done and apathy settles in. It might be too late, but there’s still a fighting chance.

A fighting chance… Or should I say a fighting stance? I find myself at a point where I need to make a change. So, how can this little website make a difference?

Many won’t agree with this site, but people get together for a good laugh when things are (hopefully) clever and funny. I hope to be that with Wicked Left Hook.

The “right” has weaponized the internet, the W.H. press room, and has a crazy amount of organized disinformation online, domestic and International. We’re f*cked. It’s just brutal, all the hate and uneducated viewpoints are rampant. Facebook, YouTube, X, and Reddit are merely fuel for clicks, views, and likes that drive disinformation. So, let’s take that playbook and flip it around. Use the same internet and take it back.

I don’t advocate violence, but people are angry, including myself. The name “Wicked Left Hook” is a boxing term that refers to a violent punch. However, this anger will be expressed through sarcasm and humor, rather than violence. This site is a satirical look at what’s going on. I was explaining to a friend what this site is. My quick elevator pitch is: if “The Daily Show, Rachel Maddow, AOC, and Pod Save America got it on and made an angry baby… that’s what this site is.

“If the Daily Show, Rachel Maddow, AOC, and Pod Save America
got it on and made an angry baby… that’s what this site is.”

There are many things that I don’t know about, and I’m sure others don’t as well. So, let’s make a website to find out how you can help, how you can learn to peacefully (and forcibly) protest, how to organize a rally, how to wear comfortable shoes, or what gas masks help while getting tear gassed. Or how to deal with a nazi in your local grocery store.

Many won’t agree with this. It’s polarizing. But when things are clever and funny, people get together for a good laugh. Perhaps it will spark a discussion, and I hope to be a part of that with Wicked Left Hook.

So, enjoy, learn, and fight back..

Let me know your thoughts and open to your viewpoint and let’s have a discussion.
